Nachtweih, Sheryl R., Saginaw Township, Michigan

Passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012, at home surrounded by her loving family. Age 61 years. Sheryl Rae Knochel was born on December 16, 1950, in Bay City, MI to Kenneth and Dorothy (Wilson) Knochel. She was married to Larry J. Nachtweih on September 27, 1969, having shared 42 years together. Sheryl graduated in 1977, from Bay City Practical School of Nursing, returning to school at the age of 42 to receive her RN degree (Cum Laude) in the first class of nursing from Great Lakes (Davenport). Prior to her retirement, Sheryl was employed for 34 years as a Registered Nurse with Covenant HealthCare (Saginaw General Hospital). She was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church, Eagles #497 Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion #439 Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving besides her husband, Larry, are her three children and spouses, Holly M. (Jason) McBride, Freeland; Lyndsay R. Dashkovitz, Freeland; Kenneth E. (Michelle) Nachtweih, Batavia, IL; five grandchildren, Alyssa Nachtweih, Michael and Mason Dashkovitz, Isabel and Joseph McBride; her mother, Dorothy Maul, Saginaw; two sisters, Janet (Jim) Weadbrock, Ashburn, VA, Devra Byron, Saginaw; sister-in-law, Cathy Dougherty, Saginaw; brother-in-law, Rick (Sue) Miller, Saginaw; also several nieces and nephews. Sheryl was predeceased by her wonderful father, Kenneth Knochel, and her son-in-law, Joshua Dashkovitz, brother-in-law, Scott Byron. Sheryl also leaves two best friends, who were by her side during the good days and bad, Debbie Evans, friend of 50 years, and Mary Beth Bordeaux, friend of 42 years. She loved them both very much and had a lot of fun times and crazy times, and wanted to thank, LeAnne Steffek-Schweigert for being her buddy through nursing school until now. A promise was kept by her special cousin, Rick Kedzierski, and the family will be forever grateful. Sheryl loved life, her family, and all her friends. She lived life to the fullest. The Celebration of Sheryl’s Life will be held on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 2110 Brockway. The Rev. Kathleen Basner will officiate. Sheryl’s final resting place will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at a later date. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave. on Thursday from 2:00-8:00 p.m., then at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her service. Memorial contributions may be given to Saginaw County Animal Shelter (Friends), the Eagles #497 Ladies Auxiliary, or American Legion Post #439 Ladies Auxiliary.
