Morello, Doris Mae (Lawler), Saginaw, Michigan


Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012 at St. Mary’s of Michigan Medical Center. Age 90 years. The daughter of the late Thomas F. and Gertrude Elizabeth (Rombach) Lawler, Doris was born February 14, 1922 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Joseph Michael Morello, her loving husband of 63 years, on May 7, 1949 at St. Andrew Catholic Church. He survives her. Doris graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1939. After graduation she went to work at Second National Bank on the west side, staying for 10 years until she was married. She raised four children. Doris then went to work for the Saginaw School System as a librarian at Kempton Elementary School for 22 years before her retirement. She was an avid reader and always said “a good book is like a good friend the same today and forever”. Doris was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church and The League of Catholic Women. She was an avid Michigan State fan and loved spending time with her family. Surviving besides her husband Joe are two sons, two daughters and their spouses, John T. and Jeannie Morello, Essexville; Mary Jo and Ronald Brownlie, Saginaw; Timothy and Ida Morello, Houston, Texas; Roberta Ann Morello, Olympia, Washington; five grandchildren, Kevin, Paige, Jodi, Luke and Adam; a very special and loving sister, Mary Helen Sipiala and her family; brother-in-laws, Frank Morello, Sam and Carol Morello; sister-in-laws, Mary Willis, Catherine and Joseph Samuel, all of Saginaw, Ann and Chris Dulski of Perrysburg, Ohio and Margaret Bruggeman of Oldsmar, Florida; and her beloved canine companion, Dolly. Doris was predeceased by two brothers, a sister and two sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Harold C. Lawler, Francis X. and Madeline Lawler and Lois Morello, Joyce A. and Henry Kochanowski. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Ronald Wagner will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Thursday from 2:00-7:00 p.m. and at St. Helen Catholic Church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. There will be a Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
