Mendyk, James Paul (Jim), Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away peacefully at his home, Tuesday, April 25, 2012, surrounded by his family. Age 72 years. Jim was born December 9, 1939 in St. Charles, MI, to the late Clarence and Tilly Mendyk. He married Judith “Judy” Helen Lamb, September 1, 1962. She survives him. Jim was a graduate of SS. Peter and Paul High School and served with the U.S. Navy. He was employed by General Motors, Grey Iron, Foundry, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed golfing. Surviving besides his wife, Judy, are two daughters, one son, Jamie Mendyk Murlick; Jennifer Mendyk Sova; Dan (Tena) Mendyk; two grandchildren, Christian and Ilianna Mendyk; all of Saginaw, MI; a brother, Dennis Mendyk; two sisters, Jean Thomas and Gerry Giller; several nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by three brothers, Clarence, Max, and Raymond Mendyk, a sister, Henrietta Fries and a brother-in-law, Robert (Bob) Lamb. In accordance with Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place. His funeral liturgy will be held on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn St., Saginaw. Rev. James Heller will officiate. Memorial visitation will be held at W. L. Case and Co., 4480 Mackinaw Road, from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. with Robert Kelm officiating. In Iieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the American Cancer society or Covenant Visiting Nurses Assoc. Jim’s family wishes to give a special thanks to the staff of Covenant Hospice for their loving care.
