McDonald, William D., Zilwaukee, Michigan

Beloved father and grandfather (papa) passed away peacefully Friday, January 6, 2012 at his home. Age 91 years. The son of the late Duncan and Jennie (Lintz) McDonald, William was born on November 22, 1920 in Bay City, Michigan. William served in the United States Army Air Force during WWII. He married Hope E. Lewless on November 11, 1943. She predeceased him on February 2, 2008. William worked for Baker Perkins and Saginaw Grey Iron until his retirement. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #77. William was a “jack of all trades” and enjoyed carpentry and woodworking. He also enjoyed gardening, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving is one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Sheryl McDonald, Merrill; two grandchildren, Kaylee and Brendan McDonald; two brothers and one sister, Mic (Gail) McDonald, James (Barbara) McDonald, Judy (Lee) Langworthy; two sisters-in-law, Dee McDonald and Delores McDonald; many nieces and nephews and his beloved feline friend Buffy. William was predeceased by two brothers and one sister. Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty). Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Mausoleum with Military Honors provided by V.F.W. Post #1859. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Service. There will be a Masonic Service 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to a charity of your choice.
