Marino, Joseph, Hemlock, Michigan


Passed away Thursday, February 16, 2012 at St. Mary’s of Michigan, age 89 years. Joseph was born in Gorgus, Alabama November 19, 1922 the son of the late Charles and Leslie Marino. He married Ruth Bruce July 26, 1975. She predeceased him April 10, 2009. Joseph served in the United States Army during WWII, earning a Purple Heart and several other medals. He was captured and held as a POW in Czechoslovakia. Joseph was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and the American Legion, Post No. 439. He worked at General Motors retiring after 32 years of service. Joseph loved spending time with his family and was very active in his church. He is survived by two children, Joe Charles (Kelly Crannell) Marino and Larry Dale (Marti Rubsam) Marino; four step-children, Dwight (Diane) Bruce, Andrew Lawson, Edith Dunlap and Charles Allen, Carolyn (Mike) Dalton; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Kelly, Jim and Sam Marino; two sisters, Mary Cobb and Ann Trosper; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Joseph was predeceased by a sister, Lou and a sister-in-law, Jan. The funeral service will take place on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 247 N. Fordney Road, Hemlock. Rev. Dwayne Swinehart will officiate with burial in Richland Township Cemetery with military services under the auspices of American Legion, Post No. 439. Friends may visit with the family at W. L. Case & Company, 201 N. Miller Road, Saturday from 2:00-5:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. and on Sunday at church from 12:30 p.m. until time of the service.
