Laux, Dennis, Frankenmuth, Michigan


Dennis passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012 at home with his family at his side after a lengthy battle with Leukemia. He was born June 3, 1946 to Erich and Frieda (Keinath) Laux. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, high school sweetheart, and best friend Mary (Block) Laux. Dennis was a four sport letterman at Frankenmuth High School and went on to Western Michigan University on a football scholarship. Dennis loved his Lord and served his church on many boards and committees. In addition, he sang in the male choir at St. Lorenz for 25 years. He volunteered in his community and belonged to the Frankenmuth Jaycees, the Optimist Club, Big Brothers, and many business organizations. He could also be seen running the down box at home football games for over 40 years. Dennis was also an avid University of Michigan sports fan. He retired after 31 years as an Account Executive with 3M Corporation Surviving besides his wife Mary are; two daughters, Lisa (Chip) Petty of Pleasant Hill, CA, Kelly (Christopher) Fields of Germantown, MD; four grandchildren, Wyatt and Brooke Petty, and Ava and Sean Fields; two sisters, Karen (Larry) Henry, and Joanne (Hans) Meier; brother-in-law Ronald (Dolores) Block; sister-in-law Chris Laux, many nieces and nephews, and very special friends, Alan , Kli-Anne, Bailey and Alaina Elnick. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 10:15 a.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St., and 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. Rev. Mark Brandt will officiate with burial between services in St. Lorenz Lutheran Cemetery. Dennis’s family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00-8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
