Lagalo, Joseph, Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Meadowview Manor, Saginaw, Michigan. Age 86 years. Joe was born on February 3, 1926 in Saginaw to the late Anthony and Elizabeth (Carter) Lagalo. He was one of eleven children. At a young age, after his mother passed away, Joe went to live in Flint, Michigan with his Aunt Minnie and Uncle Pop Pete. He met and married the love of his life Billie Jean Hall, on April 21, 1945. Surviving are his wife Billie, daughters Bette, Sherri (Peter) Bernacchia, Pat Eddy and Theresa (Dave) Hilbrandt; proud grandfather of Giuseppe (Cristina), Roberto (Serena) and Cristina Bernacchia; Rachel and Nathan Eddy; Drew (Kristin), Brett and Riley Hilbrandt; great-grandfather to Camilla, Lorenzo, Allessandro and Margherita Bernacchia; Noah Furlani, Sara Dal Magro and Shaye Hilbrandt. Joe was a naval veteran of World War II, having served as a boatswain mate 2nd class on the ship S.S. Schohaire. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he helped to establish and own several Original Tony’s Restaurants. After retirement, he and his wife made their home in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida where he was an avid gardener, fisherman and woodworker. He was known for his great sense of humor and hard work ethic. Honoring Joe’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be neither visitation nor memorial services. A very special thank you to the employees of Meadowview Manor and Southern Care Hospice.
