Kowalski, Gerald John, Toledo, OH, Formerly of Saginaw, Michigan


Passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at his home in Toledo, Ohio. Age 87 years. Son of the late John and Victoria (Novak) Kowalski, Gerald was born June 10, 1924 in Saginaw, Michigan. Jerry served in the Army Air Corps, during World War II, in the China Burma India Theatre, as a radio operator, on a transport plane. He was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Post 1859, in Carrollton and was also a member of the Elks. He retired from General Motors and had a love of sports, especially baseball and golf. Jerry is survived by his wife, of 55 years, Pauline P. (Kupres) Kowalski: daughter: Vicki Ann (Jeff) Miller, of Toledo; grandchildren: Heather L. and Jeffrey M. Miller II, both of Toledo, and John F. Kowalski, Jr., of Findlay; siblings: Lorraine (Stanley) Biskup, Rita (Todd) Howley and Ronald (Mona) Kowalski. He was preceded in death by his son: John F. Kowalski, of Toledo and siblings: Virginia (Floyd) Brefka, Lucille (Chester) Raft and Romaine (Robert) Ankoviak. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Randy Kelly will officiate. Entombment will take place in Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum with Military Services conducted by V.F.W. Post #1859. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m., on Friday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
