Kowalski, Edwin C., Saginaw, Michigan

Devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Monday, July 16, 2012 at HCM Manor Care in Bridgeport. Age 88 years. The son of the late Joseph and Victoria (Rushkiewicz) Kowalski, Edwin was born December 5, 1923 in Saginaw, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army-Air Force during WWII and was a member of VFW Post #1859 and American Legion Post #439. Edwin married Marie Greenburg on February 15, 1947. She predeceased him October 25, 2009. Edwin was employed at Chevrolet Grey Iron for 35 years retiring in 1986. He was a past member of Our Lady Help of Christians and current member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #4232 and the Falcons Club. He played baseball during WWII, the minors for 8 years and achieved playing with the 1949 Chicago Cubs. He also coached baseball at Means Stamping and Holy Rosary. Edwin was recently inducted to The Arthur Hill High Scholl Hall of Fame. Surviving are four daughters, three sons and their spouses, Marilyn Porras, St. Charles; Christine Archambault, Freeland; Mark and Marcia Kowalski, Freeland; Steven and Sue Kowalski, Hemlock; David and Beverly Kowalski, Saginaw; Mary Ann Arnett, Eaton Rapids; Rebecca and Mark Babcock, Saginaw; 19 grandchildren, Thomas Porras, Ann (Steve) Pacek, Lisa Wissner, Jason (Yvette) Archambault, Adam, Emily, Kayla, Steve, Nicholas, Jeffrey, Daniel, Dave (Heidi) and Chad (Angela)Kowalski, Kristie Ferris, Renee Arnett, Brandon Arnett, Jill, Mark and Katie Babcock; ten great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Autumn, Olivia, Karissa, Nichole, Jacob, Anabelle, Joseph, Kennedy and Jadyn; several nieces and nephews. Edwin was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Ralph Porras and Randy Arnett, two grandchildren, Sgt. Ralph N. Porras and Amy Kowalski , two sisters, Eleanor Siegreen and Irene Kowalski, and two brothers, Adam and Joseph Kowalski. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State St., Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Randy Kelly will officiate with entombment at 1:30 p.m. in Oakwood Mausoleum. Friends may call at the church where the family will be present from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
