Keyes, M. Jean, Saginaw, Michigan, Formerly of Birch Run, MI

Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2012. Age 90 years. The daughter of the late Edward and Gladys (Jones) Slaggert, Margaret Jean was born June 28, 1921 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Dr. James T. Keyes on December 28, 1942. He predeceased her January 18, 1981. Jean was a medical assistant for her husband’s family practice in Birch Run until her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral and its leisure group, Saginaw County Medical Society Auxiliary and served as a volunteer in Pastoral Service at St. Mary’s of Michigan Medical Center. Surviving are four sons, three daughters and their spouses, Jim and Sue Keyes, Flushing; John and Debbie Keyes, Florida; Jerry and Connie Keyes, Florida; Joe and Mary Keyes, Minnesota; Judy and Jim Grzesiak, Saginaw; Jane and John Bodway, Kalamazoo; Joan and Bradd Chisholm, Saginaw; 21 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; a brother, Alfred J. Slaggert, Clare; two sisters-in-law, Esther Keyes and Ursula Saggert; several nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by two infant sons; a brother, Edward W. Slaggert, an infant brother, Lawrence Slaggert and one grandson. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Cathedral. Rev. Fr. Thomas McNamara will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at St. Mary Cathedral on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. There will be a Vigil Service 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
