Hudson, Gerald P., USNR, Ret., Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away late Friday, June 1, 2012, at Covenant – Cooper. Age 70 years. He was born December 7, 1941, in Saginaw, the son of the late James A. and Ruth (Bouchard) Hudson. He proudly served with the US Navy, retiring as Chief Petty Officer after 25 years of service. He also retired from General Motors after 29 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post #22. He had formerly been a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Knights of Columbus Fr. Nouvel Council 4232, and Pulaski Hall. He enjoyed bowling and golfing. He was an avid fan of Michigan sports, especially the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He married Harriett Bain on September 15, 1962; she survives him. He also leaves three daughters and two sons-in-law, Dawn and Scott Carey, Virginia Beach, Virginia; Mary and George Pappas, Freeland; Michele Hudson, Saginaw; seven grandchildren, Heather, Amanda and Karastin Carey; Sean, Kristin and Justin Pappas; Courtney Hudson; one great-granddaughter, Kailyn Carey; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Joan Hudson and several nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth Suzanne and Jack Donoghue. A celebration of his life will take place on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from 1:00-4:00p.m. at the American Legion Post #22, 2200 S. Niagara St., where the legion will render military honors at 1:30 p.m. Arrangements by W. L. Case and Company.
