Huber, William A. (Bill), Zilwaukee, Michigan


Passed away Tuesday morning, September 25, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Age 86 years. Bill was born on September 18, 1926, in Saginaw, to the late Otto and Clara (Schindler) Huber. Bill served in the U.S. Army during WWII, stationed in Germany as a Medical Tech. Bill was married to Katherine (Kambourelis) Huber on July 25, 1963, in Kavala, Greece. She survives him. Prior to his retirement Bill had worked as a parts inspector at Saginaw Steering Gear for 38 years. He was a member of St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Zilwaukee; Life member of the Hemlock/Merrill VFW Post #7302. Surviving besides his wife, Katherine, are two children and their spouses, Tina Huber-Loos, and her husband, James Loos, Jr.; Thomas Huber, and his wife, Despoina Kypraiou; five grandchildren, Aikaterini Christofidou, Nicole Rabideau, Tyler Loos, William Huber, and James Stratton; his brother, Robert Huber; also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and one nephew, Thano Kambourelis. The family would like to express their gratitude to Judy Grzesiak and to Covenant VNA nurses, Devacah, Diane, Tony, Katie and others for the care they gave to Bill. Funeral service will take place on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Johnís Lutheran Church, 318 S. Franklin, in Zilwaukee. The Rev. Marcus Manthey will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, where military honor guard will be conducted under the auspices of the VFW Hemlock/Merrill Post #7302. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave., on Thursday from 2:00-8:00 p.m., then at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Johnís Lutheran Church, Zilwaukee, or Covenant Visiting Nurses/Hospice.
