Hollingsworth, Margaret Louise, Saginaw, Michigan


Passed away Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Centre, after a lengthy illness, age 90 years. Margaret was born in Saginaw, Michigan October 25, 1921 the daughter of the late Seth and Nina (Blumberg) Gates. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1940 and married Forest “Tim” W. Hollingsworth September 26, 1945. He predeceased her in 1967. Margaret worked in the accounting department at Michigan Bell in Saginaw for 31 years before her retirement in 1986. She was a member of Michigan Avenue Baptist Church and the Telephone Pioneers. She enjoyed volunteer work for organizations such as the March of Dimes and the Salvation Army, as well as traveling and spending time with her family, reading and playing cards. Surviving are Margaret’s three sons, James Hollingsworth and fiancée, Marilyn Bennett, Bay City, David (Kimberly) Hollingsworth, Freeland and Gregory (Bridget) Hollingsworth, Saginaw; two sisters, Ileene Oehring of Las Vegas, NV and Dorothy Harris, Rio Rancho, NM; sisters in law, Sybil Hollingsworth, Saginaw and Marion(Richard) Sedwick, Saginaw; brothers in law, Ronald (Geraldine) Hollingsworth, Freeland, Gerald (Norma) Hollingsworth, Broomfield, CO and Lionel (Mary) Hollingsworth, Saginaw. Margaret is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, predeceasing Margaret are two sisters, Virginia Fitzgerald and Leatha Shebester; several brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and special friends, Mary Carle, Norm and Elaine Pettis and laurel Abler. Margaret’s family wishes to thank the staff of Hoyt Nursing & Rehab Centre, Hospice Advantage of Bay City, Caretel Inns of Tri Cities and especially her caregiver, April Steele for their kindness and compassion in Margaret’s final years. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 11:00 a. m. at Michigan Avenue Baptist Church, 203 S. Michigan Ave., Saginaw. The family will be present to receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
