Heitman, Mary Jo, Flint, MI, Formerly of Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Genesys. Age 90 years. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, August 18, 1921, the only child of the late Elmer and Hilda (Schultz) Furstenberg. She graduated from the old Arthur Hill High School, Class of 1939. She attended Michigan State University for one year and then transferred to Alma College. There she met her husband, Warren Heitman. They married October 23, 1943 after graduating form Alma College. They enjoyed 48 years of marriage. He passed away January 5, 1991. Mary was an active community volunteer and was a member of the Saginaw Club, the Assistance League, Junior League, volunteered at the Saginaw Art Museum and for more than 35 years at Saginaw General Hospital (Covenant). She was always interested in art, arts and crafts. She was a longtime member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Surviving are three children and their spouses, Tim and Diana Heitman, Montrose, MI; Tom and Sherry Heitman, Flushing, MI; Tina and Mike Steele, Saginaw, MI; six grandchildren and their spouses, Erich and Christa Heitman; Carrie and James Royalty; Joel Heitman; Kirk and Wendy Heitman; Matthew Steele and Marcy Abner; Drew Steele; five great grandchildren, Luke, Jake, Mia, Will, Isabella. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5335 Brockway Road, Saginaw. Rev. Mark P. Buckert will officiate with entombment in Oakwood Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Church from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of the funeral service.
