Hayden, Jessie E., Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 13, 2012, at the age of 89 years. Jessie E. Alderton was born July 17, 1922, in Hemlock, the daughter of the late Ross and Nellie (Little) Alderton. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Hemlock. She married Robert H. Hayden on February 23, 1946; he predeceased her May 28, 1985. She was a charter member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, and a member of its Altar Society. She was also a member of the League of Catholic Women. She volunteered with St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary and at Saginaw Community Hospital Gift Shop. Jessie loved spending time with her family and being at her cottage at Eight Point Lake. Surviving are four children and their spouses, Kathleen (Anthony) Grohman, Port Clinton, OH, Michele (William) Bringer, Lake George, MI, Patricia (Richard) Mainprize, Freeland, MI, and James (Karla) Hayden, Hastings, MI. Two children, Mary Ann Rappley and Charles “Bo” Hayden, predeceased her. She is also survived by a son-in-law, Donald Rappley, Saginaw, MI, a daughter-in-law, Jane Hayden, Grand Rapids, MI; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and their families. She was also predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Sarah (Clifford) Hagarty, a brother-in-law, James Hayden, and two sisters-in-law, Ella M. Cormier and Helen Hayden. Her family extends special thanks to all the staff at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Centre for their kindness and care. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Road. Her family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of Mass. Rev. Fr. David Parsch will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery.
