Goosens, John F., Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away on Friday, September 7, 2012. John was 89 years old. John was born on February 27, 1923 in East Jordan, Michigan. He married Mary Maul on May 8, 1948 and they had a fantastic son Ronald who resides in Lansing and a very helpful and always dependable daughter-in-law “Patricia” Wressell. John served in the field artillery in World War II. His unit was attached to the III Army headed by General George Patten and saw action in the European Theater of action. He was an usher at St. Helen Parish for many years and was in attendance there on a regular basis. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4232 and the VFW 9809. John had many dear friends at the Knights of Columbus and the VFW and at St. Helen Church. His wonderful wife of 60 years, Mary preceded him in death on January 10, 2008. John loved to go to the casino and take many long car rides with his wonderful wife at his side. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Patricia Maul, Lansing; two grandchildren, Shaundree and Jerry Cassidy, Charlotte; Jason and Heather Maul, Brunswick, Ohio; six great-grandchildren, Sarah, Brandon, Cody, Jamie, Joshua and Jacob; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Ronald Wagner will officiate with entombment and military honors in St. Andrew Mausoleum. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Monday, September 10, 2012 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. and at St. Helen Catholic Church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. The Knights of Columbus Council #4232 will pray the Rosary at 3:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
