Ewald, William Roy, Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away at his residence Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the age of 87 years. William Roy Ewald was born September 23, 1924, in Saginaw to the late Roy and Germaine (Maquet) Ewald. He married Virginia Barror on June 24, 1944, and she survives him. Bill graduated from Saginaw High School and later served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for 37 years in the auto body business which included the last 20 years as the owner and operator of Bill’s Body Shop in Hemlock. He retired in 1984. Bill was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter, and bowler and enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of the Hemlock/Merrill VFW Post #7302. In addition to his spouse, he is survived by: three children, William R. (Diane) Ewald Jr., Thomas T. (Vicki) Ewald, and Kay Martin; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 7 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, a great-grandson, and two sisters, Germaine and Evelyn. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the W. L. Case Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road. Rev. Richard E. Mundt will officiate. Military honors under the auspices of the Hemlock/Merrill VFW Post #7302 will conclude the service. Friends may call at the Chapel on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
