DuRussel, Betty, Saginaw, Michigan


Died early Saturday morning, May 26, 2012 at Alterra Clare Bridge in Essexville. Age 85 years. She was born on October 10, 1926, daughter of the late Frank and Hilma (Weber) Nefe. Betty was united in marriage to Walter J. “Sarge” DuRussel on November 25, 1949 in Saginaw. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2002. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Frankentrost and was very active with Clowns for Christ and the Ladies Aid, along with doing art work and banners for the church. Betty along with her husband Walt owned and operated the Stony Pony Saloon until 1994. Betty had truly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Surviving are her two children, Scott and Sue DuRussel of Bay City, Lynn Robinson-Morang and her husband Chris of Saginaw; grandchildren, D.J. and Sydle Robinson, Dan Robinson, Holly DuRussel, Kadie DuRussel, step-granddaughter, Summer Drayer; great granddaughter, Emily Robinson; sisters, Mary L. and Gerry Lentner and Elaine Nefe all of Saginaw and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., from Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Frankentrost. Rev. Mark Loest will officiate with burial in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Betty’s family will receive friends at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 8220 E. Holland Road, on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church.
