Donoghue, Donna J., Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away Sunday after a brief illness. Age 75 years. A life-long resident of Saginaw, she was born December 21, 1936 to the late Arthur S. and late Gertrude G. Stroebel. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard W. Donoghue, on October 13, 1956. He preceded her in death on November 6, 2002. Donna lived and died on her terms, was quick to laugh and had a great capacity to love. She was a devoted wife, a nurturing mother and doting grandmother. Donna worked as a bookkeeper for the VFW on S. Oakley St. in Saginaw for many years. She was a life-long communicant of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, attended its school and was home coming queen her senior year. Surviving are two sons: Dennis Donoghue of New York; Donald and his spouse Carolyn Donoghue of Hemlock; and daughter-in-law Sharon Donoghue of Hemlock. Her son, Daniel Donoghue, preceded her in death. She leaves five grandchildren: Justin, Hilary, Molly, Samantha and Sarah. Surviving siblings and spouses include: Phyllis Russell, Delores and (Matt) Penny, twin brother Donald and (Susan) Stroebel, and baby sister and beloved companion Diane Fox and special friend Joanne Phillips of Lovells. Preceding her in death are sib spouses: James Russell and Michael Fox. She also touched and will be missed by many cousins, nephews, nieces, St. Pete’s alums, VFW and Consumer Power friends. Funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 4735 W. Michigan Ave., Saginaw. Fr. John Johnson will officiate with burial at St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, on Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and at church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
