DeRop, Donald A., Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband father and grandfather passed away Friday, March 9, 2012 at The Cartwright Hospice Residence. Age 88 years. Son of the late Alfred and Bertha (Baschke) DeRop, Donald was born October 27, 1923 in Saginaw, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of Kochville V.F.W. Post #9809. Donald married Vida S. Sonsmith on July 15, 1950. She predeceased him December 20, 1996. He then married Anna Pearson on February 14, 1998. She survives him. Don was employed at Saginaw Steering Gear for 37 years retiring in 1979. He enjoyed bowling and especially the Detroit Tigers and Lions. Surviving besides his wife Anna are, two sons, and their spouses, Donald A. and Mary Ann DeRop, and Dennis A. and Sally DeRop, all of Saginaw; three stepdaughters, Nancy and Paul Marcinek, Thomasville, Georgia; Kathy and Bill Rutz, Tecumseh, Michigan; Janice Hoffman, Hemlock; a step daughter-in-law, Kallee Pearson, Saginaw; sixteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Brandi. Don was preceded in death by his daughter, Sue Bair and a step-son, Skip Pearson. Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 1501 N. Center Road, Saginaw. Rev. Marlene Clark will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Monday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. and at St. Matthews Episcopal Church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. The Kochville V.F.W. Post #9809 will conduct a Military Service at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
