Passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012, at the Durand Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center. Age 79 years. Mary Ellen Amon was born September 16, 1932, in Flint, the daughter of the late William and Vina (Birch) Amon. Mary was married to her husband, Jay, who predeceased her on March 5, 2003. She had been employed by AC Spark Plug for 22 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, flowers, and her grandchildren. Surviving are her sister, Wanda and Jr. Harris; five children, Randall (Donna) Rancour, Victoria (Steve) Zonca, Candace (Joe) Cirasuola, William (Tammy) Rancour, and Eugene “Geno” (Julie) Rancour; two step-children, Jay Butler Jr. and Wallace (Theresa) Butler; 25 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and their families; and her faithful companion Alfie. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two children, Michael Rancour and Susan Anderson; sisters, Betty Willard, Norma Veleski; brother Donald Amon. Funeral service will take place on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 123 N. Michigan Ave. The Rev. Daniel Cannon will officiate. Her family will receive friends at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-9:00 p.m. on Wednesday and 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-9:00 p.m. on Thursday, and then at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. Friday until the time of service.
