Boitel, Harvey H. (Beutel), Saginaw and Sanford, Michigan


Passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012, at his winter home in Bradenton, Florida. Age 96 years. Harvey was born December 9, 1915 in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of the late Charles and Clara (Rieder) Boitel. He married Ruth A. Honeywell, May 24, 1941. His wife of 59 years passed away, December 28, 2000. Later he married Helen Robinson, August 20, 2002. She survives him. Harvey served with the U. S. Army, in Italy, North Africa and Europe, during WWII and received multiple battle ribbons, 4 bronze stars and was a charter member of the WWII Memorial. He was a Life member of the Colman V.F.W Post and the American Legion Steward Post #24, Bradenton, FL. He was employed by General Motors, Central Foundry Div, retiring in 1974 with 34 years of service. He was a member of the CFD GM Salary retirement club. He was an associate member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bradenton, FL and had been a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Second and Federal Sts, Saginaw. He had been a member of Germania Club, Saginaw; the El Conquistador Country Club, Bradenton, FL and the Pioneer Club, Saginaw. Harvey had spent his winters in Bradenton Florida since 1974 and at his summer home on Sanford Lake, Sanford, MI. Surviving besides his wife, Helen, are a sister, Betty M. Dent; many beloved nieces and nephews including, Ruth Ann Turner; Hon. Fred L. (Joyce) Borchard; Barbara (Tim) Purman; Hon. James T. (Mary Jane) Borchard; Sara (Steve Luptowski) Borchard; Pat (Rev. Howard) Mattee; James (Judy) Dent. He was also predeceased by four brothers, Elmer, Norman, Carl and Earl. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at noon at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Rev. Howard Mettee will officiate with military burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Chapel from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of the funeral service.
