Bluem, Thomas E., Freeland, Michigan

Passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012. Age 64 years. Tom was born on October 1, 1948 to the late Marie and Edward Bluem. He married Brenda Trinklein Aven on August 25, 2001. She survives him. He retired from General Motors in 1999. Tom served in the Army in Alaska during Vietnam. He worked at Michigan Sugar from 2001 - 2007. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, camping, and Steeler's football. Tom was a gifted musician. He could play many string instruments. He volunteered annually at the Saginaw County Fair playing honky-tonk piano in the Antique Barn. He loved to sit on the back yard swing with Lady, his dog, and Chynah, his cat, and "watch the world go by". Tom is survived by 3 step-children: Lisa (Tommy) Frampton, Brian Aven and Kendra Aven; grand-daughter Arianna Summer Frampton, all of Saginaw; his father-in-law Donald Trinklein, Frankenmuth; 4 sisters, Marilyn (Gary) George, Midland, Carolyn (James) Hammis, Jacolyn (Robert) Blasch, and Angelyn Bluem, all of Saginaw, and many nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by one sister, Gwendolyn. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday October 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Freeland Chapel of the Cunningham-Taylor Funeral Homes, Inc. Committal services under the auspices of Carrollton-Zilwaukee V.F.W. Post 1859 and Rev. Robert G. Schmidt will be 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery Chapel. Tom’s family will receive friends at the Freeland Chapel on Tuesday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
