Beeg, Mary L., Saginaw, Michigan

Loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away Monday, May 28, 2012 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence. Age 80 years. Daughter of the late Harry and Pauline Sydorak, Mary was born May 28, 1932 in Sault Sainte Marie, Ontario, Canada and became an American Citizen in 1965. She was married to Leo F. Beeg on September 12, 1953. He survives her. Mary was employed by the Saginaw News from 1953 to 1957. She attended Delta College and graduated from Delta School of Nursing in 1972. She was a Registered Nurse at the former Saginaw General Hospital for 25 years. Mary loved nursing with a passion and enjoyed working with the wonderful and dedicated people. In 1982 she was awarded the honor of The Eleanor Howard Award for Nursing Excellence. She retired in June of 1994 and became very active in the March of Dimes Fund Raisers. In 1996 she was diagnosed with having Parkinson disease. Mary was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church, loved to go to luncheons, collect cook books and going to the casinos. Surviving besides her husband Leo are three sons, Gregg Beeg, Mt. Pleasant; Gary and Vicki Beeg and their children, Brittany and Brenden, Littleton, Colorado; Brian and Melissa Beeg and their children, Andrew and Natalie, Rockford; a sister-in-law, Yvonne Beeg; several nieces and nephews especially Barb Gruhl and Linda Collier. Mary was dearly loved by her four grandchildren which were the highlight in her life. Mary was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Sydorak. The family would like to express their appreciation to all for their help and care during Mary’s illness especially Marge Ockerman and Bev Spiekerman and Covenant HealthCare, Hoyt Nursing Home and the James E. Cartwright Hospice Residence. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2445 N. Charles, Saginaw, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Ronald Wagner will officiate. Honoring Mrs. Beegs wishes cremation will follow with private burial of cremains in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at the church where family will be present on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
