Barrera, Helen, Saginaw, Michigan

Our loving mother, grandmother and friend went to be with her Lord Friday, May 11, 2012 at the age of 90 years. Helen Jimenez was born in Piedras Negras, Mexico August 18, 1921 the daughter of the late Lorenzo and Guadalupe Jimenez. She married Ralph Barrera in 1949. He predeceased her October 27, 2001. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Church and Harvest Assembly of God. Helen enjoyed playing bingo, cards and having people read to her. She looked forward to her morning talks with her sister, Rose, with whom she shared a very special relationship. Helen loved being able to visit with her son, Ramon, whom she prayed for on a daily basis. She will be greatly missed in the lives of her family and friends. Helen is survived by seven children, Guadalupe (Fred) Perez, Mary (Richard) Perez, Jesse (Maria) Barrera, John (Esmeralda) Barrera, Rebecca (Mark) Gomez, Ramon and Yolanda Barrera; 42 grandchildren; 170 great-grandchildren; 85 great-great-grandchildren; six sisters, Judy, Mary, Adela, Rosalinda, Margaret and Rose; two brothers, Jesse and George; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Helen was predeceased by her sons, Ralph, Robert and Armondo; five siblings, Lucia Jimenez, Pauline Vargas, Janie, Albert and Louie Jimenez. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 915 N. 6th St. Friends may visit with the family at W. L. Case &Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Tuesday from 2:00-5:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. and at church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service.
