Alger, Sharon Marie, Saginaw Township, Michigan

Sharon was born May 2, 1958 in Greensville, S. Carolina to Richard L. and Helen B. (Saamer) Alger, Sr. She was employed at St. Luke’s Hospital for 24 years and then at the State of Michigan for 12 years. Sharon was a hard worker and performed her job in a conscientious manner. Her sister Lib has multiple sclerosis and Sharon organized a team for the Multiple Sclerosis Walk for several years until her health declined. Sharon had a wonderful sense of humor, was generous and loving. She was devoted to her family and loyal to her friends. Sharon enjoyed working in her yard and gardening. She loved animals and her faithful German Shepherd Scarlett predeceased her. Sharon will truly be missed. She leaves behind her mother Helen Barbara Alger; two brothers and two sisters: Richard (Sheryl) Alger, Jr.; Catherine (Bryan) Forrest, Elizabeth (Charles) Reimers, David (Tracie) Alger. Seven nieces and nephews whom she loved as if they were her own children: Audrey Forrest, Austin Forrest, Rebecca Alger, Brett Alger, Marie Reimers, Kaye Reimers and Jacqueline Reimers. Her father, Richard L. Alger, Sr. predeceased her in 1984. The family thanks Sharon’s very dear friend, Barb Wicke, for her love and support; especially, during Sharon’s illness. Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at St. Andrew Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Ronald Wagner will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may visit at the McIntyre Funeral Chapel, 500 N. Michigan Ave., on Tuesday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be considered to St. Andrew Church or to the Saginaw County Animal Shelter.
