Zerba, Robert D. (Bob), Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved father and grandfather passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Covenant Healthcare Cooper. Age 86 years. The son of the late Bernie and Ida (O’Brien) Zerba, Bob was born September 18, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan. He was formerly married to Dawn Wiesen. Bob served as a pilot in the U.S. Army-Air Force during WW II. He earned his Masters degree in Education from Wayne State University. He loved music and had composed the Dawn Overture. Bob was employed as a teacher for the Saginaw Public Schools until his retirement in 1986. He was also licensed in insurance and real estate. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing baseball. Surviving are three sons, Jon and Mary Zerba, Goodrich; Robert Alan Zerba, Clinton Township; Richard and Susan Zerba, Saginaw; eight grandchildren, Steven, Mark, Sara, Elyse, Marielle, Kristina, Ryan and Noah; several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis Pullen and Jean Johnson. Funeral service will take place at 12:00 noon Saturday, February 26, 2011 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty). Rev. Douglas Leffler will officiate. Honoring Mr. Zerba’s wishes, cremation will follow. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
