Welke, Thomas Arthur, Hemlock, Michigan


Beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011, after a brief illness. Age 66 years. He was born February 16, 1945, the son of Margaret (Wood) and the late Harland Welke. He graduated from Mayville High School with the Class of 1963. He served with the US Army in the Vietnam War. He married Susan Kae Osborn on October 5, 1968 in Mayville, living in Lapeer and Vassar until moving to Hemlock about eight years ago. He had been employed by General Motors Buick Motor Division, retiring from GM after over 40 years of service. He was a member of Hemlock United Methodist Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed golfing with his son, He and his wife enjoyed working on home projects, woodworking, repairs and remodeling. He especially loved spending time with his grandsons. Surviving are his wife, Susan; two children, their spouses, and four grandsons, Trish (Chad) Gohm and their sons, Aden, Evan and Owen; Shad (Krista) Welke, and their son Jacob; his mother, Margaret; two brothers, one sister and their spouses, James (Karen) Welke, John (Sally) Welke, all of Mayville; Janelle (Gary) Holt, Australia; one brother-in-law, Bernie Osborn, Millington; several nieces, nephews, and their families. His parents-in-law, Wallace and Aleen Osborn, and a sister-in-law, Judy Sawyer, predeceased him. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Hemlock United Methodist Church, 406 W. Saginaw St., Hemlock. Rev. Jerry Paul Densmore will officiate. The family will receive friends at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, Saginaw, from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, and then at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
