Szewczyk, Romaine A., Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Saturday, January 15, 2011 at her home. Age 87 years. Daughter of the late Theodore and Antoinette Konieczka Sr., Romaine was born November 26, 1923 in Saginaw, Michigan. She was married to her loving husband of 47 years, Aloysius A. (Ollie) Szewczyk on June 24, 1944. He predeceased her October 8, 1991. Romaine was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, League of Catholic Women and Pulaski Club Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed flowers, taking pictures and baking for family and friends. Surviving are two sons and their wives, Ronald A. and Sally A. Szewczyk, Prudenville; Gary R. and Michele A. Szewczyk, Clio; four loving grandchildren, Jennifer and Neal Morton, Debra and Brad McDowell, Paul Szewczyk, Deanna Szewczyk; three great-grandsons, Avery and Riley Morton, Brady McDowell and an angel on the way; two sisters-in-law, Theresa Konieczka and Angeline Nash; a special friend Cindy Palmer; several nieces and nephews. Romaine was preceded in death by a brother Theodore Konieczka, Jr. and a sister Barbara Oquendo. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Randy Kelly will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
