Szabo Jr., Frank, Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle went to his Heavenly Home and in to the waiting arms of his beloved wife Elsie, on Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at the age of 93 years. Frank was born January 2, 1918, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Julia (Toth) and Frank Szabo. He served with the US Army 101st Airborne Division as a Staff Sergeant during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Hemlock – Merrill VFW Post #7302. He engaged in farming. He retired from General Motors in 1976 after nearly 40 years of service. He married Elsie Elizabeth Anaman on June 1, 1946. They enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona. She predeceased him on March 9, 2005. Surviving are one son, Frank Szabo III, Hemlock; four daughters, Diana Lynn Szabo and Beth Ann Szabo, both of Harbor Springs; Cindy (Tom) Schrems, Au Gres; Shelley (Mart) Partlow, Saginaw; his grandchildren, Carrie Reif, Nikki (Scott) Nemec, Sarah (Mike) Garrison, Jason and Brittney Szabo, Jacob and Joshua Partlow; five great-grandchildren, Drew and Noah Reif, Olivia and Lukas Nemec, and Gavin Garrison; one sister, Helen O’Millian; one brother, James Szabo; many nieces, nephews and their families. He was also predeceased by one sister, Julia Wagner, and by three brothers, Elmer, Sandor, and Joseph Szabo. Memorial services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 25, 2011, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, where his family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. on Friday until the time of service. Rev. Andrew Backus will officiate. Military honors will be under the auspices of the Hemlock – Merrill VFW Post #7302. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. John’s Ev.
