Solek, Henry F. (Hank), Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away Monday, January 24, 2011 at his son’s home. Age 93 years. The son of the late Peter and Mary (Demske) Wszolek, Hank was born June 6, 1917 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Agnes Zaleski on October 26, 1940. She predeceased him August 28, 1998. Hank was a professional car painter and had owned Saginaw Auto Collision for many years until his retirement in 2000. He also owned and operated Solek Auto Sales. He was a member of St. Josaphat Catholic Church and a past member of Knights of Columbus Council #593. Hank enjoyed automobile races and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. Surviving are two sons and their spouses, Gene and Joan Solek, Duane and Karen Solek, all of Saginaw; two grandchildren and their families, Brent and Amy Solek, Rochester and their four daughters, Courtney, Emily, Meghan and Lily; Matthew and Misti Solek and their four children, Liberty, Maci, Sterling and Manning Solek; a brother, Stan Solek, Saginaw; a sister, Agnes Mazur, Birch Run; Hank also leaves many nieces and nephews and a godson, Bob Mazur of Birch Run. Hank was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Cohee, in 2008, and by a brother and a sister, Frank Solek and Eleanor Borucki. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 4, 2011 at St. Josaphat Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Ronald Dombrowski will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at St. Josaphat Catholic Church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. There will be a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
