Schmidt, Donald F., Saginaw, Michigan

Our beloved father and grandfather went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at the age of 85 years. Donald was born June 15, 1925, in Saginaw to the late Frederick and Eva (Zieroff) Schmidt. He married Evelyn Duby on August 9, 1947. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage until she predeceased him January 28, 2010. He served in the U.S. Army and was present at the D-Day invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944. He retired from General Motors in 1982. He was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed going up North and spending time with his family. He is survived by his daughter, Carol Kime; and granddaughter, Devin Kime. He was predeceased by his children, Dennis Schmidt and Linda Schmidt. Funeral services will take place on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Second Presbyterian Church, 2665 Midland Road. Rev. James Neumann will officiate with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens under the auspices of V.F.W. 1859 in Carrollton. Friends may visit with the family at W. L. Case & Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road, on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and again on Monday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Second Presbyterian Church or to the American Diabetes Association.
