Sanderson, Fay Marie, Alma and Carrollton-Saginaw, Michigan

Fay Marie Sanderson aged 94 passed away peacefully September 18, 2011, in Alma, MI. Fay resided at Masonic Pathways in Alma, for 8 years and was previously from Carrollton-Saginaw, MI. Fay was born December 13, 1916 to parents Denzil Roscoe Wallace and Frieda Zauel Wallace of Saginaw, MI. Fay was married on January 23, 1938 to Asa T. Sanderson of St. Charles, MI. A.T., estimator for Boettcher Construction of Saginaw, MI, predeceased Fay in 1983. Fay graduated from Arthur Hill High School, Saginaw MI June 12, 1934, and was a National Honor Society member. She attended West Side Academy (Beauty School) and obtained her first Beautician's License in June of 1935. Fay owned and operated Fay's Beauty Shop from 1952 until 1994 and the Janet Lynn Beauty Shop from 1969 to 1982 both located in Carrollton, MI. Fay was also very active in the Carrollton Public Schools PTA, Band Boosters, and the National Hairdressers & Cosmetology Association groups. She is a member of Kochville United Methodist Church and belonged to the Martha Washington #113 chapter of the Eastern Star. Fay was a lifelong musician. She played piano, organ, harmonica and participated in many music related activities including the former Saginaw Organ Club and Bag Ladies Beauties music groups. Fay is survived by her son, Jan R. (Susan L.) Sanderson, St. Louis, MI and her daughter, Susan M. Sanderson, Brighton, MI; three grandchildren, Thomas S. Rueter, Janet (Norman) Tachick and Jenefer (Bryan) LaLone; four great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Jessica Tachick, Pound, WI, Izabelle and Tyler LaLone, Elwell, MI.; a sister-in-law, Leatha Fallon, Cherry Hill, NJ and a special friend, Jenny Kocks, Carrollton, MI. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Fern and Perry Hamilton. The funeral service will take place on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Kochville United Methodist Church, 6030 Bay Road. Rev. Susan Bennett Stiles and Rev. George H. Ayoub will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family at W. L. Case & Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road, on Thursday from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and at church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to Masonic Pathways, Mid-Michigan Hospice or Kochville United Methodist Church.
