Rivette, Clarence D. (Frenchy), Zilwaukee, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Covenant HealthCare Cooper. Age 75 years. The son of Lorraine (Summerfield) Rivette and the late Clarence Rivette, Clarence was born May 18, 1936 in Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from St. Andrew High School, Class of 1954. He married Beverly Cox, his loving wife of 55 years, on February 11, 1956. She survives him. Clarence was employed at Saginaw Steering Gear for 30 years until his retirement. He was a member and past President of Zilwaukee Lions Club, served as Lieutenant on the Zilwaukee Fire Department, Zilwaukee City Council, Mayor Pro-Tem for the City of Zilwaukee and the Zilwaukee Utility Board. Clarence also served on the Saginaw HealthSource Advisory Board and the Zilwaukee Summer Festival Committee. He was a member of the first charter commission of Zilwaukee and very active in various community volunteer activities. Clarence enjoyed working in his garden and orchard. Most of all, Clarence enjoyed spending time and traveling with his family and friends. Surviving besides his wife Beverly are one daughter, three sons and their spouses, Kim and Mark Schauman, Folsom, California; Clarence and Dr. Sara Rivette, Saginaw; Douglas and Maggi Rivette, Alpena; Phillip and Cathy Rivette, Stuttgart, Germany; 10 grandchildren, Bridgette Stallings, Paul Schauman and his fiancée Nikki Schmolitz, Michael and Toni Schauman, Courtney Schauman, Clarence and Nicholas Rivette, Ryan and Tyler Rivette, Bradley and Ashley Rivette; six great-grandchildren, Madeline and Brandon Stallings, Alex, Dawson, Emily Schauman and Meredith Brown; Clarence’s mother, Lorraine Rivette; two brothers, Frank and Mary Jane Rivette, Richard and Louann Rivette; several nieces and nephews; special cousins, James and Margaret Summerfield; many friends including Bernard Letherer and the Thursday Night Dinner Group. Clarence was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Lozamae and James Collison. Clarence’s family would like to thank Dr. S. Rivette, Dr. R. Swanson, Dr. R. Gudipati, and the nurses and staff at Covenant C.C.U. for the loving care they gave to Clarence. Honoring Mr. Rivette’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place on Monday, June 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty). Sister Janet Pewoski, CSJ, will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. The Zilwaukee Fire Department will have a walk-thru at 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
