Reed, Richard David, Houghton Lake, MI, Formerly of Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away Monday, August 29, 2011 at his home. He was born November 3, 1929 to Samuel Caleb and Helen Louise (Stevens) Reed. After graduating from Arthur Hill, he went to work at Saginaw Steering Gear where he worked for 38 Ĺ years retiring in 1988. He was a member of the UAW Local #699. Richard married the love of his life, Ruby Watson in 1953. They were married 58 years. He enjoyed bowling, golf, camping, boating and most of all he loved to play cards and never turned down a game of pool. After retirement, they moved to Houghton Lake where they happily lived for 23 years. In 1993 they opened the Rose Arbor Antique Shop in Houghton Lake. He had a large collection of antique coin banks and was always hunting for more. He leaves behind his wife Ruby, his children, Steven, Russell and David Reed and Sharon (Chris) Tucker; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister Dorothy (Herm) Braun of Colorado; his beloved dog Snuggles. He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Allen Reed in 1993. Honoring Mr. Reedís wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Richardís life will take place on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at noon at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty). Chaplain Lonnie Severance will officiate. Interment of cremains will take place in Birch Run Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
