Philopulos, Arlene Rita, Saginaw, Michigan


Loving mother and grandmother, great-grandmother passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at her home. Age 84 years. Daughter of the late Thomas and Alice (Alarie) Klida, Arlene was born March 18, 1927 in Bay City, Michigan. She was married to Albert J. Philopulos on July 2, 1954. He predeceased her September 3, 1983. Arlene and Albert were the owners and operators of the Reese Locker Co. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the Holy Rosary Society, St. Ann’s Society, St. Ann’s Novena Society, V.F.W. Post #485 Ladies Auxiliary, and a volunteer at The American Red Cross. Arlene enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, watching TV and especially her grandchildren. Surviving are two daughters, Judy (Floyd) VanBrunt, Saginaw; Alicia Haske, Kalamazoo, Michigan; five grandchildren, Tammie (Chris) Kooi, Tiffanie (Jimmy) Chalenko, Bryce (Krista) VanBrunt, Brett Van Brunt, Brittanie (Michael) Lotz; 8 great-grandchildren, Jake, Olivia, Emma, Chloe, Brooke, Hunter, Ryley and Cadyn; her step-mother, Lillian Klida and step-sister, Joyce Rasdorf. Arlene was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Ashleigh VanBrunt. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Saginaw. Rev. Fr. David Parsch will officiate with burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Bay City, Michigan. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
