Pettis, Norman Nelson, Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at his home. Norman was born October 5, 1919, in Fremont Twp., Michigan to the late Walter and Rachel (Simmons) Pettis. Norman graduated from Arthur Hill High School, and married his beloved Elaine A. Moore on June 22, 1940. Norman and Elaine had enjoyed 70 years of marriage in 2010 until she predeceased him August 12, 2010. Norman was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. When he returned from the war he worked at Michigan Bell until his retirement. Norman always liked to travel and spend his winters in Florida enjoying his favorite pastime, playing golf. Norman especially enjoyed and appreciated the excellent, loving care given by his caregivers, Pat, Ida, Joyce, Elda, and April. Norman’s family and friends will always remember him for his kindness, loving heart, and his beautiful smile. He leaves to cherish his memory: two children, Ruth Anne (Ronald) Sny, and Michael E. (Connie) Pettis, along with his six grandchildren, Laura (Doug) Breault, Scott (Melissa) Wruck, Frank Wruck, Heather (Scott) Delgado, Robert (Christina) Pettis, Michelle (David) Moldenhauer; several great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and his older sister, Marjorie Leaman. He was predeceased by his brothers Arthur and Albert. Funeral service will take place on Friday, March 18, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, and he will receive military honors from V.F.W. Post 7542. His family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Rev. Dr. Robert L. Emrich will officiate. Private committal services will take place at a later date at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers of memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or to Covenant Visiting Nurses Association-Hospice Care.
