Osuna, Rev. Reyes, Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and pastor passed away suddenly Sunday, January 23, 2011 at the age of 64 years. He was born January 28, 1946 in Saginaw to the late Julio and Guadalupe Osuna. He married Maria Marta Garcia on November 12, 1970; she survives him. Reyes lovingly served as Pastor of Saginaw Valley Baptist Church for 20 years. In 2007, the Lord called Reyes and Maria to found Spiritual Therapy Ministry where he served passionately as Pastor. His purpose in life was to spread the Good Word of God to change the lives of many as it did his. He retired in 2010 as a social worker for Saginaw Public Schools (Jesse Rouse) where his dedicated service of over 20 years touched the lives of many students. Reyes was named Teacher of the Year in 1995. Surviving besides his wife, Maria Marta, are one son and one daughter, Reyes Osuna Jr. and his wife, Jhoana, Irvine, California; Joy Benfante and her husband, Michael, Bloomfield, New Jersey; his grandson, Michael Reyes Benfante; three brothers and five sisters, Abel (Mary) Osuna, Homer Osuna, Jesse Osuna, Frances (Javier) Aguilar, Janie Juarez, Maria Elena Botello, Ophelia (Bill) Daubert, Gloria Estrada; his sisters-in-law, Veronica (Luis) Segura, Janie (Rick) Padilla and Silvia Garcia; many nieces and nephews who loved their “Uncle Rey”. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2011 at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Rev. Benjamin Salas of Ft. Worth, Texas, will officiate with burial to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Thursday. A prayer service will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
