Nelson, Thelma L., Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Hoyt Nursing & Rehab Centre at nearly 100 years of age. The daughter of the late Joseph and Melvina (King) Terrian, Thelma was born November 20, 1911 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Andrew H. Nelson on April 20, 1935. He predeceased her July 13, 1981. Thelma was a member of St. Josaphat Catholic Church. She enjoyed Detroit Tigers Baseball, sewing, cooking, traveling, playing cards and was a Yahtzee champ. Most of all, Thelma enjoyed taking care of small children and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Marlene J. and Thomas Osmond; four grandchildren, David Osmond and his girlfriend Jane, Michelle and Ronald Snow Jr., Barbara Osmond and Mary Sue Osmond; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Marion Elaine Guerin; a sister-in-law, Mildred Terrian; many special nieces and nephews and special friends including Mary and Caroline. Thelma was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Osmond, a great-grandson, Daniel Nestell, four brothers and four sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, Hector Guerin, and by a nephew, Rick Guerin. Thelma’s family extends their gratitude to the staff of Hoyt Nursing & Rehab Centre and especially Pansy for the love and care they provided. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Josaphat Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Ronald Dombrowski will officiate with interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at St. Josaphat Catholic Church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. There will be a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
