MacArthur, Thomas Charles, Saginaw, Michigan

The love of my life, Honey Bunny, and soul-mate went home early Monday, September 26, 2011, at the age of 66 years. Tom and Vonnie shared 27 years of laughter, tears, and fears, and came through it all still loving each other. Tom was born to Arthur J. and Kathryn M. (Simons) MacArthur on October 27, 1944, in Saginaw. Tom graduated from Arthur Hill High School with the Class of 1963. He honorably served with the US Air Force from 1963 until 1967, and was a Vietnam veteran. He was a member of American Legion Post #22 and the Thailand Laos Cambodia Brotherhood. Tom was also very active in AA, enjoying 28 years of sobriety, and was one of the founders of the Saginaw Unity Club. For many years, Tom was a Saginaw City firefighter. He also worked as a salesman for Garber’s in Bay City and as a sales manager for Jim Canary in Millington. Tom was an avid internet salesman and loved to make a deal. Tom married Yvonne Brodek October 6, 1984; she survives him. He also leaves two children, Laurie MacArthur, Florida, and Jason MacArthur, Georgia; three grandchildren, Katelyn, Ashleigh and Seth MacArthur. Tom also leaves one brother, Arthur J. (Jackie) MacArthur II, Hale; two sisters, Kathryn A. (Tom) Ecarius, Sanford; and Mary M. (Jim) McQuinn, Saginaw; one brother-in-law, Ronald (Denise) Brodek, Arizona; several nieces and nephews; many beloved cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Kathryn MacArthur, his mother-in-law, Tessa (Chet) Meade, and his father-in-law, Theodore Brodek. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, where his family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of service. Rev. Greg Coles will officiate. Military honors will be under the auspices of American Legion Post #22. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Saginaw General Alumni Association or American Legion Post #22. www.casefuneralhome.com
