Beloved father and grandfather was reunited with his loving wife, Ann, Friday, November 25, 2011. John passed away peacefully at his home. Age 94 years. The son of the late John J. Lynch Sr. and Sarah (Moore) Lynch, John was born September 6, 1917 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Ann Clare Howley on June 14, 1941. She predeceased him May 7, 2009. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus Council #4232. John was a past member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church where he served as an usher and also attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He had owned and operated Lynch’s Esquire Barber Shop from 1958 until his retirement in 2001. John was a member of the Barber’s and Beautician’s Union where he served as treasurer. He enjoyed traveling and wintering in Fort Myers, Florida. Family was very important to John. He was devoted to his wife, Ann, and to their children and grandchildren. Surviving are four sons and their spouses, John Lynch III and his wife Anne, Farmington Hills; Timothy Lynch and his friend Jill Seegmiller, Saginaw; Terrance and Laura Lynch, Grosse Pointe Farms; David and Katherine Lynch, Farmington Hills; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kevin, Brandon and Kristen Lynch and Tim’s son, Michael Schmid; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Logan Hiemstra; one sister, Domitilla (Dee) Lynch Evers, Grand Rapids, Michigan; John’s sisters-in-law, Joan Lynch, Alice Lynch; several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister, Robert, Patrick, Edward (Pete) and William Lynch and Sally Costa. Honoring Mr. Lynch’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, December 2, 2011 at noon at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. John R. Johnson will officiate. Friends may call at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church where the family will be present on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Family and friends will share memories beginning at 11:45 a.m. in the church until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Ss.
