Loiacano, Philip P., Saginaw, Michigan


Passed away Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Tendercare Frankenmuth. Age 87 years. The son of the late Salvartori and Rose (Parisi) Loiacano, Philip was born April 23, 1924 in Saginaw, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry as a parachutist during WW II and was a member of V.F.W. Post #1859 where he served on the Honor Guard and American Legion Post #22. Philip married Dolores (Dee) Wahl on June 4, 1949. She predeceased him September 4, 2005. He was employed at Mitts & Merrill as a boring mill operator for over 30 years until his retirement. Philip enjoyed fishing and camping. Surviving is one son, Samuel Loiacano; a step-son, Bartlett and Patricia Wahl, Lake Placid, Florida; several grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, Vito and Esther Loiacano; Jimmy and Sally Loiacano; Sarah Dimambro; many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A military service will take place on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at V.F.W. Post #1859, 3169 Carrollton Road in Carrollton. Entombment of cremains will take place at Chapel Hill Mausoleum in Freeland, Michigan. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to V.F.W. Post #1859.
