Lehtinen, Margaret C., Middletown, CT, Formerly of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved mother and grandmother passed away Thursday, July 28, 2011. Age 102 years. The daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Becker) Mertz, Margaret was born December 29, 1908 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married John O. Lehtinen on February 6, 1937. He predeceased her March 31, 1990. Margaret received her cosmetology license on November 6, 1931 and was employed as a beautician. She was of the Catholic faith. Margaret was a member of VOICE Office, Community of the Deaf, Tri-City Deaf Club, National Fraternal Society of the Deaf and the Tri-City Association for the Deaf. Surviving are one daughter, Carol Gauthier and her husband Joseph, Cromwell, Connecticut; a daughter-in-law, Karen Lehtinen, Rockford, Michigan; four grandchildren, Betty Lynn (Ray) Senes, Linda MacIntyre, John Jay (Christina) Lehtinen, Theresa Lehtinen; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Lou Lehtinen, a son, John H. Lehtinen, and by one sister and two brothers, Luella Duperon, Joseph and Peter Mertz. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 545 Mapleridge in Carrollton. Rev. Fr. Ronald Dombrowski will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours at the funeral home. Friends may call at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where the family will be present on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
