LaTarte, Robert Lawrence, Saginaw, Michigan

Robert Lawrence LaTarte passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011. Age 88 years. Son of the late Lawrence and Martha (Hayes) LaTarte was born May 24, 1923 in Carrollton, Michigan. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and the Korean War and was a member of VFW Post #1859 and American Legion Post #439. He retired from Hemlock Semiconductor as a tool and die maker. Robert was a member of Masonic Lodge #77, Consistory and the Elf Khurafeh Shrine. He belonged to the Arab Patrol, Royal Order of Jesters Court #74, and the Hillbillys. He was a member of Saginaw Exchange Club. Robert was a skilled carver and very active in Saginaw Valley Wood Carvers. Surviving are three sons and their spouses, Daniel and Patricia LaTarte, Hemlock; Barry and Mary LaTarte, Saginaw; Craig LaTarte, Hemlock; stepson, Robert and Linda Conlay, Saginaw; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie and Marv Gatz and Mary Mae Blake. Robert was preceded in death by his wife Betty (Conlay) LaTarte, his brother, Jack LaTarte and former wife, Madge Topliff. The VFW Post # 1859 will conduct a military service followed by a Masonic Service on Wednesday December 14, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty). Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to make donation to the charity of your choice.
