Kaeckmeister, William Carl, Hemlock, Michigan

Passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Covenant Harrison. Age 87 years. The son of the late August and Emma (Keller) Kaeckmeister was born on June 22, 1924 in Saginaw. He served in the US Army during WWII in the 246th Combat Engineer BN all throughout the European Theatre. He married Ruth M. Schoonmaker, she predeceased him in 1994. He retired from GM Grey Iron Foundry in 1984. He was a member of the Hemlock-Merrill VFW Post #7302. He enjoyed woodworking, inventing, and Euchre. Survivng are his children; Michael C. Kaeckmeister, Edward C. (Linda) Kaeckmeister, Jane M. (Buzz) Snell, Susan E. (Tim) Creel; grandchildren; Amy (Kerry) Cone, Alan (Ani) Kaeckmeister, Jodi Kaeckmeister, Valerie Bell, Laura Bell, Grant Bell, Joe Creel, Stuart Creel, great-grandchildren; Gabriel and Michael Cone, his siblings; Mary Hoffman and Norman Kaeckmeister. William was predeceased by his siblings Emil Kaeckmeister, Helen Mielke, Walter Kaeckmeister. A funeral service will take place on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road. Chaplain Douglas Bassett will officiate with military burial under the auspices of the Hemlock-Merrill VFW Post #7302 at Lakefield Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 12:00 noon until the time of the funeral service.
