Hubbard, Norman L., Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Cartwright Care Center, age 85 years. Norman was born in Saginaw, Michigan January 20, 1926 the son of the late Joseph and Marcia (Doughty) Hubbard. He married Shirley Perry in 1946. She predeceased him in 1993. He married Thelma Schattilly in 1995 and she survives him. He was a member of Ames United Methodist Church. Norman served in the United States Navy and was employed at Severance Tool Industries for 48 years, retiring in 1991. Norman was a girl’s softball coach for many years and enjoyed bowling and playing shuffleboard. In addition to his wife, Norman is survived by three children, Ronald Hubbard, Janice (David) Halm and Sandra Hubbard; four grandchildren, Kim (Aaron) Perkins, Kelly Hubbard, Nathan Hubbard and Aaron Hubbard; three great-grandchildren, Madelyne, Cassidy and Caleb Perkins; six step children, Rebecca Bank, Jeanette Kinne, Rick (Kathy) Schattilly, David (Renee) Schattilly, Heidi Lepeak and Craig (Gretchen Gillespie) Schattilly; eleven step grandchildren, Amy, Kristen, Eric, Mitchell, Sean, Skylar, Shelbie, Brenden, Brian, Bradley and Ashley. He was predeceased by three brothers, Matthew, Fred and Hartwell Hubbard and two sisters, Betty Carnes and Wilda Jean Donnelly. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at noon at Ames United Methodist Church, 801 State St. Rev. Mark Karls will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family at W. L. Case & Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road, on Wednesday from 2:00 – 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday at church from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service.
