Hoggard, Donald Floyd, Swan Creek Township, Michigan

Donald was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Covenant Healthcare, age 78 years. The son of the late Floyd L and Helen J. (Rutledge) (Berry) Hoggard and stepson to the late Melvin Berry was born in Saginaw, Michigan October 31, 1932 and resided in Swan Creek Township for most of his life. He was adopted by his Heavenly Father in the waters of Holy Baptism and was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Faith. He received his Lord’s Body and Blood for the forgiveness of his sins faithfully throughout his life. He was joined in Christian marriage to JoAnn C.Benkert April 5, 1952. She predeceased him July 20, 2008. Don worked as a roofer, a cabinet maker and retired as a maintenance supervisor from Hemlock Semiconductor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, along with traveling throughout most of the United States with his wife. Don was a wonderful husband, an adoring father, a loving son and brother. His smile, integrity and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his children, Donald B. (Janet) Hoggard of Saginaw, Dennis R. (Lisa) Hoggard of Hemlock, and Cheryl Jo Haas of Saginaw; two grandchildren, Cory D. (Amanda) Hoggard and Shannon R. (Brenden) Youds; four great-grandchildren, Colby and Bryce Hoggard, Asher and Rylen Youds; his sister, Shirley (Morley) Erskine, Hemlock; a sister-in-law, Terry Hoggard, Midland; his aunt, Sally Schneider, St. Charles and his many nieces, nephews and cousins that enjoyed spending time with him. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his brother, Robert Hoggard. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8795 Ederer Road. Rev. Wade Johnston will officiate with entombment in Roselawn Memorial Mausoleum. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at W. L. Case & Company, 201 N. Miller Road. They may also call at church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service.
