Hart, William V., Saginaw, Michigan


Passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Hoyt Nursing Home and Rehab Center at the age of 90 years. William V. Hart was born in Saginaw, Michigan, December 10, 1920, the son of the late William P. and Catherine (Schrems) Hart. He graduated from St. Peter and Paul High School in 1938 and received a Bachelor of Arts from Sacred Heart Seminary College in 1945. William served in the Army in the Philippines from 1945 -47. He married Marjorie J. Troy on September 1, 1947; she predeceased him on April 20, 2010. He attended CMU for his Teaching Certification and began teaching at Carr School in Shields Township, eventually moving to the Saginaw Board of Education where he taught and was a school and personnel administrator for over 30 years . He also received an MA in Elementary Education and PHD from MSU in School Administration. Outside work, he served as an active member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. His passions were learning , gardening and travel. He is survived by four children; Sheila (John) Martuch of Birmingham, Mich., William V, Hart, Jr. of Kalamazoo, Maureen O. Hart of Arcata,, California, and Kevin C. Hart of East Hampton, New York; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He leaves behind two sisters: Mary (Carl) Doerr of Clio and Catherine (Frank) Keenan of Merrill; five sisters-in-law, Eleanor(Tim) Hart, Margaret(Francis) Hart of Midland, Mary R(Barney) Hart, Alice(Leo) Hart of Saginaw, and Donna(Edward) McKinley from South Lyon, two brothers-in-law: Harold McCullen and Edward McKinley and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers, Thomas, Timothy, Maurice, Francis, Bernard Luke and Leo, as well as a sister Lucille and sisters-in-law Ernestine, Sarah, and Joyce Hart. The funeral mass will take place on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church., 5376 State St. Fr. Randy Kelly will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call at W. L. Case & Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, from 4:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Rosary service at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday at church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the mass.
