Hales, Alan John, Saginaw Township, Michigan

Beloved father, brother, and uncle passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at the University of Michigan Medical Center at the age of 66 years. Alan was born July 26th 1944 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was the son of the late J. Claude and Helen (De Young) Hales. Alan married Nancy Hales on September 19, 1978. Nancy predeceased him in 2009. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School class of 1962. In high school, Alan played saxophone with several friends in their own band. His love of music continued throughout his life and was passed down and shared by his children and grandchildren. Alan and Nancy were very involved in the Saginaw Children's Zoo and Friday Night Live. In 2006 Alan went on full disability due to chronic lung problems. On April 16, 2008, he was given the Gift of Life. He had a successful double lung transplant at the University of Michigan Medical Center. Alan enjoyed his new lungs for the next three years. Surviving Alan are his children Elizabeth (Peter) Hales and Steven (Pam) Hales and his two adored grandchildren, Benjamin and Rebecca Hales; his beloved sister, Karen Hales Hull and her children, John Jay, Linda, Julie, and Debra; and his Standard Poodle, Bru. Alan is also survived by countless friends and family. Funeral services will take place on Monday, June 20, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at the W. L. Case & Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Rev. Dan Davis will officiate. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends and family may call at the funeral chapel Sunday from 2:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 am until time of service.
