Gaus, Charlotte M., Saginaw Township, Michigan

Passed away Monday June 13, 2011. Age 94 years. Margaret Charlotte Doan was born in Bay City to the late Herman L. and Margaret G. (Stark) Doan. She married William Gaus in 1941 in San Francisco. He predeceased her. During her career as an RN she was a hospital nurse and an office nurse for Dr. E.L. Webb, M.D. She was also very talented musically. Charlotte was the music director at the Christian Assembly Church in Bay City. She also performed piano serenades for the residents of Wescourt Retirement Residence. Charlotte is survived by four children, William (Jenny) Gaus Jr., Leslie (John) Causgrove, Janet (John) Weller, and Stephan (Carolyn) Gaus; ten grandchildren, Ben Young, Jason Gaus, Joseph Gaus, Kevin Causgrove, Kristen Causgrove, Aaron (Jamie) Weller, Andrew Weller, Emily Zollinger, Melissa Gaus, and Adam Gaus; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Carl and Clarence Doan; one sister, Priscilla (Pert) Schweitzer; one sister-in-law, Mary Ida Doan; and special friends, Gary Guerin and Sue Smith. She was predeceased by an infant daughter, who was the stillborn twin of Janet; her brother Nathan Doan; two sisters-in-law, Bev Doan and Virginia Doan; and brother-in-law, Leonard Schweitzer. Charlotte was born during WWI, was a teenager during the Great Depression, was married and a mother during WWII, and through her faith and resilience, continued to be an inspiration her whole life to all who had the pleasure to know her. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Christian Assembly Church, 401 East Vermont in Bay City. Rev. William Severance and Rev. Michael Hahn will co-officiate. Interment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to gather with the family at the Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home, 1550 S. Midland Road (South M-47) on Wednesday from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., and at the church on Thursday one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial offering to the Saginaw Rescue Mission, Christian Assembly Church, or Community Christian Reform Church in Saginaw.
